What is a pagan?

Your roots are pagan.

A Pagan is someone who follows a spiritual path that is rooted in nature, ancient traditions, or pre-Christian belief systems. Every human being has a past, an ancestry that is steeped in hundreds of thousands of years of pagan beliefs.

Pagans believe that the Earth, the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, and the cycles of nature are sacred and meaningful. They seek harmony with the natural world and will often honour different gods and goddesses, celebrate seasonal festivals and show deep respect for their ancestors.

Paganism is not one religion,  it’s a wide umbrella of spiritual paths, both ancient and modern.

The word “Pagan” comes from the Latin word paganus, which originally meant:

“country dweller” or “villager.”

In ancient Rome, paganus was used to describe people who lived in rural areas away from the cities. Christianity was a city religion, and these rural communities continued practicing their traditional, nature-based religions long after the cities had adopted Christianity.

So, over time, the word “pagan” became a label for those who didn’t convert to Christianity, people who still honoured the old gods, seasons, spirits, and the Earth.

If you are someone that reveres nature and is looking for a spiritual path and you are disillusioned with what religions like Christianity, Islam and Judiasm offer, then you will most likely find your home at Pagan.org.

The history of paganism

Is it really bad?

For two thousand years, mainstream religions have systematically tried to erase ancient truths, branding other traditions as wicked, evil, and something to be feared.  They did this to control their cities, their countries, their kingdoms and empires.

A pagan was someone that understood nature and that lived in harmony with it. The main stream religions tried to stop that, and force normal people to read and accept a book. Forced them to turn away from nature and start worshiping a man.

If they didn’t, they were killed.

No longer is this the case, and our ability to return to our roots is alive and thriving.

It's time to step outside in our bare feet and look up.

See the sun.

See the moon.

See the stars.

Feel the ground beneath our feet.

It's time to understand the healing power of nature.

It's time to live in harmony with natural cycles.

There is no need to live in fear.

Simple, beautiful truths that made our world a better and healthier place were called evil, but they are not.

They heal.

It is time for us to lift our faces to the Sun, to stand beneath the Moon and the Stars, to feel the Earth beneath our feet.

It is time for the old gods to awaken.

It is time to sit in circles once more, to build fires, to honour and respect the land, the sky, the water, the wind, and the ground.

It is time to pay respects to those that have walked before us. It is time to return to a place of understanding. Understanding of who we are, where we come from and where we are going.

It is time for peace. It is time for harmony.

It is time to come home to who you are. Your ancient roots. Your humanness. Your true you.

What does Pagan.org do?

Our Purpose

A spiritual path that is good for you

How it Works

We are a central hub for education, understanding, and unity among all non-Christian, nature-based belief systems under the broader umbrella of Paganism. We partner with pagan leaders and guides to provide a safe, structured, and inclusive space where individuals can explore different spiritual paths, expand their knowledge, and connect with like-minded people with the goal of improving their lives.

We offer a safe haven for those seeking to explore, learn, and grow within a wide variety of non-Christian belief systems, some tracing back hundreds of thousands of years, others newly emerging.

How it Works

A spiritual path that is good for you

How it Works

Through expert-led gatherings, immersive courses, and meaningful community events, both online and in person, we empower individuals to deepen their understanding, find guidance, and build lasting connections across a diverse range of nature-based traditions.

At Pagan.org, we believe in deepening our connection with nature, understanding and answering our spiritual questions, and rebuilding belief systems that reflect these truths. We foster unity, even though each person's journey and experiences will be a little bit different.

We rejoice in what unites us, and we accept what doesn’t.

A spiritual path that is good for you

A spiritual path that is good for you

A spiritual path that is good for you

Our commitment is to bring back the knowledge that has been destroyed and vilified. Belief systems that nourish our bodies, minds, families, communities, planet, and future.

Belief systems that help us thrive, not just survive.

We believe in living in harmony with nature. We believe in the sun, the moon, the stars, the wind and the water. Everyone’s path will be different, but we celebrate what unites us: nature, the cycles of life, traditions, rituals, community, and acceptance.
